Guardian Program
At Whispering Prairie, we're proud to offer Guardian Home Program as part of our breeding program. When puppies show promise for breeding, we place them with caring families who raise them in a loving home environment. These guardian puppies return to us periodically for breeding-related veterinary care, health evaluations, breeding activities, and pregnancy support.
Here's what you need to know about our Guardian Home Arrangement:
This guardianship is temporary – once your dog completes their time in our breeding program, they become fully yours!
During the guardianship, your puppy or dog lives as a cherished family member – about 80% of the time, it's just like having a regular pet!
What we ask of our guardian families:

Your pup's health and happiness come first – you'll handle all non-breeding-related medical expenses and stay on top of their wellness proactively. Keep your dog from mating outside our program and stay aware of their breeding cycles.

Arrange transportation to and from us for breeding-related vet appointments, health checks, photos, and similar needs. Allow your dog to stay with us during mating periods and, for females, during the pre-labour, labour, and whelping phases.

Provide great training, socialization, exercise, and maintain proper nutrition, cleanliness, and grooming.

There's no cost to join our Guardian Home program! Your dog stays part of our breeding family during the guardianship period, and you commit to supporting that goal. Once the guardianship ends, the dog is completely yours. Every guardian arrangement we create is based on honest, active communication and treating everyone as an extended family. We all work together with one shared goal: making sure your pup thrives and gets the best care possible.
